Human error sinks New Zealand Navy ship

A court has ruled that a navy auxiliary vessel ran aground because of human error, notably the autopilot not being disengaged while executing a turn.

The former Norwegian offshore support vessel accelerated towards a reef, grounding for the first time at a speed of more than 10kn before travelling a further 635m while stranding and grounding several times along the way.
