Austal wins H2-ready ferry deal

Gotland_Aerial render final

Austal Australasia has won a deal worth between A$265 million (US$168 million) and A$275 million (US$174 million) with Gotlandsbolaget of Sweden to design and build a groundbreaking 130-metre hydrogen-ready vehicle passenger ferry

Part of Gotlandsbolaget’s ‘Horizon X’ program, the ferry will be the largest vessel ever constructed by Austal, featuring a combined cycle propulsion system with both gas and steam turbines – a first for high-speed craft globally.

The vessel will incorporate green aluminium, produced using energy-efficient technologies that reduce carbon emissions.
