The ABR Company Ltd hasannounced that the 19th Tug & Salvage Convention , ITS 2006 , will be held in Rotterdam from 24-28 April 2006. Final arrangements regarding the actual venue still have to be finalised but are expected to be announced shortly. The deadline for the submission of papers for ITS 2006 is 1 March, 2005.
German towage company Bugsier Reederei has sold the tractor tug Hermes to a Danish operator. A Schottel tractor tug of 34.4m and 2320bhp the tug was built in 1976 for shiphandling and coastal towing. The sale took place in mid September and the new owners Reederei Alfasten have renamed the vessel Luna A .
Smit International has sold two of its first ASD tugs, the Maasbank and Vikingbank built in 1987. Once the most advanced vessels of their type in the Smit fleet they are vessels of 37.44m with Wartsila main engines producing a total of 5150bhp. Equipped for shiphandling, fire fighting and anchor handling they were latterly deployed in the Dutch Antilles under the management of Smit Americas.
Maasbank hasgone to Las Palmas, under the Portugese flag as the Warlock and Vikingbank was sold to an operator in the Arabian Gulf as the Stanford Pride .
The tug-workboat Plym Echo has been sold by the Cattewater Harbour Commissioners ofPlymouth to Coleraine Harbour Commissioners in Ireland and renamed Confidence .
Plym Echo , a twin-screw vessel of 15.75m and 730bhp became surplus to requirements following the delivery of the new tug Prince Rock earlier this year.
Built as the Gray Echo in1983, the tug will be used by its new owners mainly for maintenance dredging with a towed plough.
