Robotics firm Exail joins Seabed 2030

Seabed 2030 is a joint initiative of The Nippon Foundation and the General Bathymetric Chart of the Oceans (GEBCO), aiming to completely map the world’s oceans by the end of the decade. The project, endorsed by the UN Ocean Decade, compiles bathymetric data into a freely available global map.

“Exail’s innovative solutions and expertise will not only enhance our technical capabilities, but also help raise awareness of the critical importance of ocean mapping,” said Seabed 2030 project director Jamie McMichael-Phillips.

“Together, we are committed to a better understanding of the ocean’s depths.”

Exail will support this mission by contributing bathymetric data, sharing knowledge and technologies. The partnership will focus on the exchange of best practices in ocean mapping and data management.

This memorandum of understanding reaffirms both organisations’ commitment to the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021–2030), aiming to foster sustainable ocean management.

All data collected and shared with the Seabed 2030 project is included in the free and publicly available GEBCO global grid.
