Service Monitor and Remote Tracking Engineering System (S.M.A.R.T Engineer) is an OXE Diesel Outboard monitoring and remote tracking system.
S.M.A.R.T Engineer, is the first of its kind which is uniquely offered by Proteum.
Proteum have worked in partnership with AST Marine Sciences to develop a cloud based application to remotely monitor and track the efficiencies of the OXE Diesel Outboard whilst operational.
Why S.M.A.R.T will benefit your fleet?
This ground breaking engine monitoring and remote tracking system designed by Proteum and AST Marine Sciences, can minimise downtime for Proteum’s commercial customers; this system simple requires a 4G any network data sim which communicates directly with the main S.M.A.R.T portal held at Proteum HQ. The team are constantly monitoring the network; if they are alerted to a problem they will call the skipper notifying him/her to the problem on board.
S.M.A.R.T Engineer can monitor up to four engines installed on one boat, with the facility to monitor an unlimited number of vessels in the fleet via its customisable online portal.
Using green, amber and red tolerance for all parameters allows S.M.A.R.T Engineer to predict possible future failures, which would otherwise result in downtime and loss of earnings.
Automated warnings will alerts operators and support engineers to the pending issue, enabling them to resolve the problem during a planned service visit.
This package is similar to a mobile phone tariff, you will be required to pay monthly but with this fee you’ll experience huge benefits. This package includes lifetime monitoring 24/7; detailed customisable reports, providing the operator with valuable insights which could demonstrate a cost saving and operational benefits. The report can be used to schedule a maintenance programme, ensuring continued warranty requirements are met which can prolong the life of the engine.
To reduce costs, optimise performance and provide world class service and support to their customers Proteum awarded AST Marine Sciences a contract to develop an advanced remote engine monitoring, diagnostics and tracking solution for OXE Diesel Outboards.
This new telemetry solution in near real time transmits engine diagnostic data to a shoreside portal in near real time providing reports and alerts. These reports offer valuable early warning of a reduction in efficiency of the outboard extending the life of the engine and optimising performance.
A recent cost saving example was a vessel operating on the Thames with S.MA.R.T Engineer installed, detected and transmitted an alert on an excessive temperature alarm.
Proteum immediately contacted the Skipper on the vessel who was not aware of the issue at the time. The subsequent investigation showed the cold-water intake sieve was filled with weed causing the temperature in the engine to increase outside the parameters set within S.MA.R.T Engineer - triggering the alert.
Had the vessel not had S.MA.R.T Engineer the outboard engine may well have overheated, leading to expensive engine repairs and loss of operational days for Proteum`s customer.
AST Marine Sciences are excited about the new opportunities to drive down costs for Proteum customers and we are investing in further developments of the system in the future for many more interesting applications!
Detailed reporting
All data collected by the S.M.A.R.T Engineer is archived in the online portal. From this portal highly detailed customisable reports will be exported, providing the operator with valuable insight which could demonstrate a cost saving and operational benefits.
This information can also be used to automatically schedule a maintenance programme, ensuring continued warranty requirement are met and prolonging the life of the engine.
