MJ Seawork editions

Maritime Journal is coming into its season of bumper issues around the Seawork International exhibition (held at Southampton, UK from 16-18 June 2015), and this is our invitation to all interested parties to submit your editorial copy or ideas for possible inclusion in these key issues.

Seawork International is the largest and fastest growing international commercial marine and workboat exhibition and conference held in a European working port environment

For those who are unaware Maritime Journal and Seawork International are both run by Mercator Media Limited and there have long been very close synergies between the magazine and the show. We have the Seawork Preview in our March edition (deadline for submissions 27th Feb), as well as the June bumper issue; the 200 page issue that’s distributed at the Seawork show itself (deadline 12th May).

These editions are not solely for Seawork exhibitors, although some sections of them are. They also give the opportunity for those who for one reason or another will not be at the show to put their message in front of the thousands of exhibitors and visitors from across the world who will be there.

For those interested in submitting editorial for consideration for these editions, please follow the pointers below to maximise your chances of successful publication:

  • Maritime Journal articles are typically from 250-500 words long. If the wordcount of what you send already falls somewhere within this sweet spot we’re more likely to be able to pick up on it.
  • Wherever possible include a suitable image (preferably in landscape format and high resolution). Most of our articles have a photo or image. We can’t use many articles that don’t.

If you are exhibiting at Seawork:

  • Don’t forget to state your stand number and location (hall section, marina berth etc.) in your copy.
  • Will you be launching a new product or announcing something at the show?
  • Will you be working in partnership with another company or conference presenter at the show?
  • What sort of person do you envisage visiting your stand or vessel?- what would their job title be likely to be?
  • Please don’t waste sentences of your copy with glowing recommendations of the show in the hope that it will be more likely to be published in ‘MJ’! We are actually much more interested in your product or message, what’s special about it, why you have decided Seawork is appropriate to publicise it, how you are proposing to demonstrate it there, what’s so special about the product etc.

For everyone:

  • Please note the copy deadlines: Seawork Preview edition is Deadline 27th Feb. Seawork Special Show issue- Deadline 12th May. The earlier the better though as by deadline we can be pretty full.
  • Send any submissions to editor@maritimejournal.com
  • There are no guarantees of publication. Decisions are based editorially; so purely on how interesting and relevant potential content is and how it fits in with everything else we already have in the mix.

Many thanks and best wishes for an enjoyable and profitable Spring
