Attica Group, one of Europe’s largest ferry operators for passengers and cargo in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, has chosen to fit its new Aero 1 Highspeed catamarans with Wave MiniBOSS oily water bilge filter systems.
Ensuring that no pollution is created by its craft is part of Attica Group’s commitment to providing the most innovative, ultra-modern and environmentally friendly vessels within its Greek Saronic routes.
The introduction of three Aero ferries, representing an investment of over 21m Euros, means that more than 3 million passengers annually will enjoy a significantly upgraded travel experience.
The state-of-the-art Aero 1 Highspeed catamarans have been built by Brødrene Aa Shipyard in Norway. The extremely light carbon fibre glass construction reduces fuel consumption and air emissions, helping to reduce Attica Group’s carbon footprint.
Elimination of any overboard water pollution is also a high priority for Attica Group. The Wave MiniBOSS oily water separators were supplied by Norwegian-based Yarconsult AS.
Bjørn Nygård said that Wave MiniBoss is very suitable for high-speed boats and catamarans because of the low weight compared to other bilge water separators in the market.
The Aero 1 Highspeed catamaran is 36 m long and 9.7m wide, and is able to maintain a maximum speed of 32 knots. The interior is designed with a focus on comfort, even in rough seas. The spacious passenger accommodation features large windows, ensuring excellent views for passengers, and has special provision for those with reduced mobility and a dedicated area for bicycle transportation.
The Attica Group currently operates 32 vessels in total, across four countries and to 60 unique destinations, connecting 71 ports, transporting over seven million passengers, one million private cars and 400,000 freight units annually.
