MJR – headquartered in Stockton-on-Tees – has announced it has secured the contract to supply and install its industry leading marine automation platform - MAP-OE™- for installation on the SMS Roman tug.
Chosen for its user-friendly interface and redundant system architecture, MJR’s MAP OETM alarm and monitoring package provides superior operational functionality for continuous monitoring and diagnostics coupled with MJR’s ability to provide service and through life support from its UK HQ.
The contract will see MJR Power and Automation deliver the complete upgrade of the alarm and monitoring system on the SMS Roman tugboat, including removal of the existing system, installation of new alarm and bridge panels complete with HMI’s, outstations, and alarms located in the engine room, ship’s bridge and Chief’s cabin whilst retaining existing instrumentation and sensors. Work is scheduled to be completed in Q4 this year including sea trials with the RINA marine classification society for final approval.
Speaking about the contract win, Paul Cairns, Managing Director at MJR Power and Automation said: “We are delighted to have secured this contract and first order with the UK’s largest independent towage company, SMS Towage.”
“Having gone through a competitive tender process, MJR was able to demonstrate to SMS towage our capabilities not only in delivering a new state-of-art alarm and monitoring system with the design, engineering and installation but also the ability to provide after sales service and support from our UK locations.”
“This contract award follows the recent system upgrades and installations of MAP OETM successfully delivered to Stena Line and PD Ports and continues to build on our reputation as the go to provider for marine power & automation systems.
“We very much look forward to working with SMS Towage on this project and forging a close working relationship to support future marine power and automation upgrade projects across their fleet.”
