Hendy Power is looking to support commercial fishing vessel operators looking to modernise their fleet with a government grant.
Mark Dean from Hendy Power said the latest round of funding in the UK Seafood Fund sees grants available to all commercial fishing vessels and is a key milestone in the move to modernise the UK’s fleet, replacing older diesel engines with newer, more efficient and environmentally friendly solutions.
“In the past these grants have only been available to smaller vessels below 10m but now everyone is eligible, and our team of experts is on hand to help operators with the application process,” said Mark.
“The funding window is open until the middle of December and operators can apply for grant for complete propulsion systems and an upgrade to hybrid or diesel marine engines.”
Larger amounts are available for those looking to upgrade to hybrid system with up to £160,000 or 90 per cent of the costs of a hybrid covered by these grants. For those looking for a diesel upgrade the grants cover 50 per cent of the cost up to a maximum of £80,000.
Mark said that Hendy Group handles a range of manufacturer marine engines including those from FPT Industrial and Baudouin which suit this modernisation project including those meeting IMO Tier III regulations and hybrid drive solutions and engines with maximum operating powers up to 1215kW/1650hp.
“We know that grant applications can be time consuming for operators so we’ve launched this support service to help those looking to modernise their fleets and this latest round of funding is the perfect opportunity to complete modernisation with generous grants,” said Mark. “The grants are available for complete driveline systems and we can help with the propulsion element of these applications.”
