Briggs Marine’s new versatile Maintenance Support Vessel, the MV Forth Constructor, launched at Freire Shipyard in Vigo, Spain.
Briggs Marine marked a significant milestone in the build of its new versatile Maintenance Support Vessel, the MV Forth Constructor, as it was launched at Freire Shipyard in Vigo, Spain.
Freire, who won the contract in 2022 for the design and construction of the vessel, will now complete the fit-out of what its General Manager, Guillermo Freire, referred to as a “high-class performer: a very efficient, capable and robust offshore vessel”.
Briggs Marine’s Director of Port and Marine, Iain Ross, said, “This ship’s launch is an exciting event. The ship captures the combined expertise of Briggs and Freire who have partnered closely to build a vessel which is genuinely innovative and which underscores Briggs’ intent to bring additional levels of safety and efficiency to meet our customer’s evolving demands.”
As well as its primary role of mooring servicing, the Forth Constructor will be well-equipped to carry out a range of offshore support tasks including seabed investigation and survey, offshore wind support and inshore cable laying assistance.
The Forth Constructor will now move to a new ‘wet berth’ where the fit-out will be completed ahead of its delivery to the UK for 2025.
