Dutch hail success of two-year reef block scheme

Two years on from a dual erosion protection and marine life encouragement scheme, the Dutch water board is calling it a success.

Fears over bank erosion caused by the waves of the giant ships that come and go from one of Europe’s busiest ports led to the project, which is being seen as a pilot test for nature-based wave barriers that could act as flood defences as well as enhance marine growth.
