$billions needed for offshore substations: Report

As offshore wind farms move further and further from shore, more and more substations will need to be installed nearby, a report by Rystad Energy says.

More than $20 billion will have to be spent by 2030 if the demand is to be met, the report’s authors say, which is rising along with the increasing distance of wind farms from shore.
