Sweden sinks 13 offshore wind projects for defence fears

Swedish wind farms cancelled

Offshore wind farms could be a threat to national security, Sweden’s Armed Forces have said, prompting the government to pull the plug on 13 projects in the Baltic Sea.

The announcement, says wind power association WindEurope, was completely unexpected, ‘highly problematic’, and is ‘yet another setback for Sweden’s offshore wind ambitions’, undermining the trust of investors, who could be set to lose €47 billion.
