Briggs strengthens its ferry servicing portfolio

Scanco, operating out of Calais and Cherbourg provides essential port services for Irish Ferries on the busy Calais-Dover and Cherbourg-Dublin routes.

The acquisition will bolster Briggs Marine’s existing capabilities at the Port of Dover while offering a seamless extension of services across both sides of the Channel.

“This strategic investment cements our presence in Europe and builds on the already successful operations in Dover,” said Collieson Briggs, managing director of Briggs Marine.

“By combining our expertise, we’ll realise greater efficiencies and create added value for both companies.”

Port services

Scanco has earned a strong reputation in the industry, managing over 4,500 port calls in 2023 alone.

The company’s services include check-in management for freight and passengers, customs administration, and compliance with the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) code.
