From boat to boardroom – data-driven insight
European CTV operator Windcat Workboats has expanded its fleet to include hydrogen dual-fuel workboats – whose performance AST Reygar says is measured and reported accurately its telematics technology.
Since 2020, Windcat has utilised AST Reygar’s telematics technology to measure and report operational and cost criteria accurately.
In 2023, it announced plans to install AST Reygar’s BareFLEET, an award-winning remote performance monitoring system, on all new CTVs.
“BareFLEET is an invaluable tool for comparing vessel performance data between our conventional diesel and dual-fuel hydrogen craft,” said Phillip Goffin, IT Manager for Windcat. “The decision to install it on all our CTVs demonstrates our commitment to meeting customer reporting needs with a digitalised vessel fleet.”
BareFLEET provides critical insights into fuel use, emissions, machine health, VMMS motion, and navigational activity through continuous onboard sensor measurements. It is compatible with various engines, navigation systems and third-party equipment, consolidating essential data for analysis.
Goffin said BareFLEET had saved Windcat around 10 man hours per month by automating data collection.
Windcat also employs AST Reygar’s Digital DPR system across its fleet of more than 50 workboats, ensuring efficient and accurate daily reporting.
After an 18-month trial in 2022 with positive feedback from skippers and management, the fleet-wide rollout was completed in October. The DDPR app, running on onboard tablets, simplifies daily reporting, enhancing accuracy, and reducing administrative burdens.
BareFLEET’s DDPR allows Windcat to generate customised Daily Progress Reports for clients and internal management, significantly reducing workloads for both crew and shore-based staff.
“We are committed to meeting our customers’ reporting needs with a digitalised fleet. The AST Reygar team customised the DDPR system to our specific requirements, reducing the burden on crew and office teams,” Goffin said.
DDPR can function alongside BareFLEET or as a stand-alone solution. Live data from vessels is instantly accessible in the cloud, allowing comprehensive fleet analysis from Daily Progress Reports to monthly KPIs and trends.
This integration provides unique insights from boat to boardroom, enabling informed decision making based on accurate, near real-time data.
