Shock mitigation solutions for high-speed craft
One marine seating company has been a stalwart exhibitor at Seawork since close to the birth of shock mitigation in high-speed craft.
Founded in 1965, Shockwave is a Canadian company with a global footprint, specialising in the design and manufacture of marine suspension seats for both professional and recreational markets.
Shockwave’s journey began in 2001 with the US Coast Guard as its inaugural customer. Initially focusing on designing and building marine suspension seats for military applications worldwide, the company gradually expanded its offerings to include commercial markets.
In 2016, Shockwave introduced the S5 suspension base, its first suspension solution for recreational boaters. Building on this success, the company launched the improved S5 Sentinel suspension base in 2021.
S3 Helm and Jockey Seats
Shockwave’s S3 seats, featuring 8-inch shocks, are a popular choice for military missions, law enforcement and border patrol operations. These helm seats are also favoured in high-end cabin or open boats for recreational and tender use.
Jockey seats are typically mounted on deck track systems, ideal for government vessels with limited deck space. A key feature of the S3 seats is their ability to fold down, conserving space and allowing occupants to stand when necessary.
S2 Helm and Jockey Seats
The S2 seats, equipped with 6-inch shocks, are a popular choice for law enforcement, government agencies and search and rescue (SAR) applications.
Helm seats in this series are often selected for high-end recreational cabin boats. Jockey seats, commonly mounted on risers in open boats, are compact and perfect for vessels with space constraints.
ICE Console
The ICE console, boasting 12-inch shocks, is designed for military missions, law enforcement and SAR operations that demand maximum occupant safety at high speeds in extreme sea conditions.
The console integrates occupants, controls and electronics into a single, shock-absorbing unit, protecting both personnel and equipment from wave impacts from all directions.
Speciality products
The company also offers a range of speciality seats, featuring shocks ranging from six to 12 inches, catering for various military applications. These seats can be customised for specific missions, designed to transport many troops in compact spaces.
Control pods are specifically crafted for government and special forces vessels, ensuring the protection of both electronics and occupants, even when space is limited.
